Dear Ray,
i am interested in taking photos. i have arranged some courses but could not manage to take because of the injury. i am using Nikon D40X hope that you could coach me to use this camera for basic photo taking.

試下啦,我搵Sameul會長傾,photo組歡迎所有人的,並不是soccer組專用的.OTA學會都要聯誼活動,唔係下下都traininig,你以為係T&D會咩,所以話OTA會幹事重好似中學生學生會,一D都重咁Naive,好心佢地成熟D,好似做班長咁,你估OTS係佢地的細路咩,夠鐘就喂奶.真係激親,講起都XYZ.....玩下都好似唔正經

Steven, I have found that the following website is very useful for the new user of DSLR camera (though it is a Canon website). You can have a look.

thank you, i will read the web. i have bought two books for beginner to use DSLR camera so I do have basic concept. Still you have tp try it out anyway.

I love to see your photos. As I mentioned before, your composition is really good and you have got a pair of sharp eyes that makes you able to see from different angle from others. Keep up, wait and see more photos from photographer Ray! :addoil:
BTW, you seems a bit 自戀狂...I can see you take some photos of yourself...

My advice is first not to be bothered by the techniques on how to shoot a picture, e.g. aperture or shutter. Try to observe your surroundings with your eyes and see if anything attracts you. This is the pre-requisite before considering how to use a camera. Your eyes are a pair of perfect lens and your occipital lobe is the no-cost CF or SD card, which together make up a perfect camera. That's even better than EOS 1 Mark II. In fact, I like FM2 or F3 more!

I concur to Eddy's point. Observation is an instrustmental free but the most important technique for photograhpy. You can using your DC and shoot first.
You won't learn swimming with reading the books only, same as photography

Let's go to Tap Mun ar, it's a very nice place for hiking and photo-taking

平有平玩, 貴有貴玩...豐儉由人啫...
阿里爸爸...要認購十手先可以穩奪一手喎, 即係十幾萬入場費, 我就玩唔起喇...

Kanden, you're right if you played photo taking 20 or more years ago. $3xxx for a Nikon F3, $1xxx for lens. But the most expensive one was the consumables! $20 for a roll of 36pcs 135-100 film, and $40 for 135-200. D&P for 36 pcs was $30. So each time you went for photo taking costed you at least $100 20 years ago.

Nowadays the cost for one off hardware expenditure is around $8000 for beginner. 4GB CF or SD cost you another $4xx but that's equivalent to 100 rolls of 135 films. And you pay nothing for D&P. My conclusion is playing photo taking nowadays is much cheaper. So guys, come and join us.
